Flooding due to snowmelt could close Rossum Drive

Rossum Drive in Loveland could be temporarily closed on or around June 1 due to high water caused by the spring run-off.

According to Kevin Gingery, City floodplain administrator, the peak of the Big Thompson River snow melt is anticipated to occur on June 1. Resulting high water could flow over Rossum Drive.

Mariana Butte Golf Course will remain open for play, however, some areas of the golf course may be affected by high water levels.

The City of Loveland carefully monitors the river using its Early Flood Warning System 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If flooding is imminent, crews will close the flood gates, post signs and close Rossum Drive.

Detours will be posted to re-route motorists until the road is reopened.
